NHS Health Checks are intended to be fully rolled out across England, Scotland and Wales by the end of 2013. However, recent reports have suggested that a number of PCTs and health boards will fall short of reaching the government's annual target of offering a test to 20% of the eligible population aged 40-74 every year.

The NHS Scotland Keep Well programme has also relied on GP surgeries to date, but tests using pharmacies have proved successful, so the plan will be to make more extensive use of them.
