Cegedim Rx First PMR Supplier to Gain 2DRx Approval
Roll-out steps up in preparation for NHS Wales’ September 2011 deadline
Leyland, Lancashire – July 6th 2011 – Leading PMR system supplier, Cegedim Rx, has received authorisation from NHS Wales to proceed with the rollout of 2DRx functionality for its Nexphase system.
Authorisation for the Nexphase PMR system was received in June 2011, following approval for Cegedim Rx’s Pharmacy Manager system being granted in November 2010. Cegedim Rx was the first supplier to gain accreditation for 2DRx and the company’s rollout programme to customers with either of its two systems is now well under way.
The 2DRx project is designed to enhance patient safety by reducing potential transcription errors between GPs and community pharmacies by reducing the manual keying of prescription information between systems. With 2DRx, a barcode containing the patient’s prescription information is printed onto the prescription at the GPs. When this is scanned at the pharmacy, the information printed on the prescription is automatically transferred into Pharmacy Manager or Nexphase.
Early adopters have shown that using the 2DRx barcode functionality improves the speed of data entry and the dispensing process for pharmacies compared to manually entering prescription information, particularly for new patients.
Cegedim Rx is working to ensure all of its customers across Wales have a 2DRx compliant system in place before the NHS Wales deadline on 30th September 2011; ensuring that they continue to receive their NHS monthly IM&T allowance.
Natalie Wilson, marketing manager at Cegedim Rx, said, “Gaining approval from NHS Wales to roll out 2DRx is very important to us and our customers, particularly with the September deadline now in sight. We are pleased to be able to continue our success in implementing electronic prescription service modules for both Pharmacy Manager and Nexphase users across the UK.”
