EPS Release One

Cegedim Rx has maintained their position at the forefront of Pharmacy IT by being the only company to gain approval from NHS Connecting for Health to roll out two products Pharmacy Manager and Nexphase with EPS functionality.

Cegedim Rx is now able to provide the full IT solution required by your pharmacy to allow access to the main N3 network that links all the NHS organisations in England.

N3 is the new National Network for the NHS which provides a fast and reliable infrastructure and network services with secure broadband connectivity. N3 replaces the NHSnet, and will provide an opportunity for the NHS to take early advantage of updates and improvements in networking technology.

Through N3, the implementation of the National Programme for IT, NHS Care Records Service, the Electronic Booking Service, the Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions and the transfer of digital images such as x-rays (Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) will be made possible.

CfH recommend that pharmacies purchase their N3 connection from their system supplier so that there is one point of contact for all of the IT solution and for all support issues. The NHS is providing funding to assist with the investment in the N3 network. Once the N3 connection is installed and your Electronic Prescription Service is compliant, you are ready to claim your £200 monthly funding.

Currently we have taken orders from 70% of our customer base and we will install this estate during 2007. If you have not placed your order for N3 please Contact Us.

Pharmacy NACS (OCS) Codes

Cegedim Rx would like to stress the importance of maintaining information on the correct pharmacy NACS code (The National Administrative Code Service code). A NACS code is the authoritative single common reference for your organisation within the NHS and is used to register your organisation for reimbursement of prescription charges.

It is important that the pharmacy must communicate to all suppliers if their NACS code changes. This may happen in the situation when a pharmacy changes ownership, changes name or simply just changes bank details.

Pharmacy Action

Cegedim Rx recommends that you contact your local PCT to update their records.

Inform the Cegedim Rx EPR team who will take the necessary action to ensure that you are able to maintain contact with the EPS spine and that there is no disruption in service. Any failure to do this may result in your connection not being available for a period of time and you may not be able to download your electronic prescriptions.
