N3
N3 is part of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT). It provides the entire NHS with fast broadband networking services. The high speed network makes it possible to deliver the new services that are required by pharmacy such as EPS, NHS Care Records Service.
It is essential that all pharmacies have a N3 connection to enable the EPS facilities and to ensure the delivery of better care to patients and a platform to build an infrastructure for the future. It is the largest Virtual private Network in Europe and is the largest in the UK.
It delivers:
- A fast and reliable network for every NHS site in England, supporting all National Applications, both current and new
- The flexibility to cater to future needs of the NHS, including the ability to take early advantage of updates and improvements in networking technology
- Bespoke networking solutions and services for the individual needs of different NHS organisations
- Support for NHS organisations in implementing innovative new services - for example, the use of video conferencing for appointments with consultants
Partners
All system houses including Cegedim Rx have partnered with a network aggregator. These are commercially available network companies who have met the rigorous security requirements in connecting their networks to N3.
Free Webmail
Cegedim Rx also offer a free web-mail service provided as part of the N3 service. This facility enables pharmacy to have an email account from which you are able to send and receive e-mails.
This service will be used to notify pharmacy of maintenance or service issues relating to the N3 Network.
